Rhythm is the heartbeat of belly dance.
In this class series you will learn how to play the most common rhythms and percussive sounds we find in belly dance music, and how to embody those rhythms in your dance.
Take either just the drumming class or just the dancing class (under our 1x/week membership), or get a huge discount for taking both (under our unlimited membership)

Wednesdays, 7 - 8pm EST (Studio C)
Drumming Class - Open Level
Learn the basics of Arabic drumming. In this class you will learn foundational darbuka strokes and techniques, common Arabic rhythms, and improvisational skills for playing drum solos. All levels are welcome.
Most classes are taught by Yamê, and with a monthly special appearance by April Centrone.
You will need your own darbuka (at least 17'' tall) if you are taking the class online. If you are taking it in person, we might have a spare drum for you to borrow. When you sign up, please let us know if you will need a drum.
Drumming Class - Open Level
Learn the basics of Arabic drumming. In this class you will learn foundational darbuka strokes and techniques, common Arabic rhythms, and improvisational skills for playing drum solos. All levels are welcome.

Dancing Class - Intermediate & Advanced Level
Learn how to embody common rhythms and percussive sounds in your dance, in a variety of contexts: drum solos, classical Arabic music, belly dance entrance songs, Arabic pop music, folkloric music, and more.
This class is open to all dancers who already have some experience under their belt. At least 3-6 months of belly dance experience is recommended.
Once a month this class will include live music by April Centrone
