Learn how to play one of the most prominent percussive instruments in Arabic music: the darbuka (also known as Egyptian tabla, dumbek, doumbek, or derbake)!

This multi-level class covers:

• Foundational darbuka strokes
• Common rhythms in Arabic music
• Exciting variations and ornamentation techniques
• Playing along to belly dance music 
• Improvisational skills for playing drum solos

All levels are welcome!

Requirements

You will need your own darbuka (at least 17'' tall) if you are taking the class online. Contact us for vendor recommendations and discount codes! 

If you are taking the class in person, let us know ahead of time if you will need to borrow a spare darbuka.

About the Teacher

Yamê is a belly dance performer and teacher with over 18 years experience dancing to and immersing herself in Arabic music, and over 5 years experience playing the darbuka.

She has a passion for learning, teaching and empowering clients with the tools they need to create peace and joy for themselves from the inside out.
