In this workshop we will blend techniques from Egyptian raqs sharqi ("belly dance") together with metal headbanging, while drawing some inspiration from dances such as Iraqi raqs kawliya, Sufi whirling and other Middle Eastern trance practices... all done to metal!
Expect to hear tracks from a wide variety of metal genres including heavy metal, thrash metal, power metal, gothic and symphonic metal, folkloric metal, and more!
This workshop will be:
2.5 hours long, live on Zoom: 1st half: technique drills done to Yamê's favorite metal tracks 2nd half: full choreography to a specific metal song
Recorded: A recording (of Yamê only) will be temporarily available for 30 days after the class, so you can re-watch and practice, or just use the recording if you miss the livestream
Multi-Level: Yamê breaks everything down from scratch and offers multiple variations to accommodate multiple levels
Limited: Maximum of 15 people in the live class so that everyone can get individual attention and feedback
