This is a class designed for the introvert... by an introvert!
I remember how intimidating it was to step into my first belly dance class, and how scared I was the first time I set foot on stage. But my initial curiosity, and later on my passion for the dance pushed me to face my fears and do it anyway.
16 years later, I now teach and perform dance for a living and I've noticed that the majority of students who come to my classes are just like me... people who are naturally observant, self-reflective, who like to take their time and give themselves space to think and to process.
For introverts like us, being around people, and especially dancing in front of others, can be overwhelming and even draining. I used to think this was a flaw and a disadvantage, especially as I watched other dancers who are naturally able to immediately connect with strangers and derive energy and power from those interactions. But now I realize that our introversion is a gift to be cherished and that can be harnessed into a superpower!
So I want to foster a space where people like me can feel comfortable and safe as they explore learning new skills and get the empowering and transformative benefits of belly dance in their lives.
In this 8-week beginner level belly dance class series we will demystify the foundational techniques and musicality of this dance, building on each weeks' material week after week.
